The Top Five Best Foo Fighters Songs

I know exactly what you are thinking right now, if you are a fan of the Foo Fighters. You probably have in your mind exactly what your favorite songs are by this epic band. Everybody has their opinions of course (which you are more than entitled to), and I'm here to give you my top five choices. They are Monkey Wrench, Come Alive, February Stars, Everlong, and My Hero.

Why don't you have a quick read, and I'll explain to you why I made these selections:

5. Monkey Wrench - Plain and simple, this is a rocking song! Coming in at track two on the album The Colour And The Shape, it kicks you right in the chest right after the much gentler song, Doll. A big part of why I like this song so much may be because of this.

4. Come Alive - I have to admit, I am a sucker when it comes to solid acoustic guitar harmonies, clean vocal intros, and well put together song arrangements. This song not only has all of these, but also builds up to an amazing finale. I can't help but get chills.

3. February Stars - Similar to Come Alive, this song starts softer and takes three minutes to get to the chorus. But oh what a chorus it is! The tone of Dave Grohl's voice is deep and full of meaning. It certainly gives me a child-like sense of desire to sit outside and watch the stars while contemplating life.

2. Everlong - OK, I love this song. Not only is it great to sing along to (karaoke anyone?), but it is amazingly fun to play on the drums. I image the same must be true for the guitar and the bass parts. Seriously, if you are a musician go grab your instrument and learn this tune!

1. My Hero - This is by far the easiest song for me to write about (in a sense). Not only is it one of my favorites by Dave Grohl, but also within my top ten of all time. Although there are rumors that this song was originally written by Grohl about Kurt Cobain, this has not been confirmed. For me, this song is very emotional and has a true sense of purpose in my life. It was the first song that I heard on the radio shortly after my Grandfather's passing in 2007. It was at that time that I realized how much I looked up to him. Now, anytime I hear this song it reminds me of him, which brings a sense of sadness, but also fond remembrance of his life.

So there you have it, my pick for the top five best Foo Fighters songs. As you can tell, I am somewhat biased towards the album The Colour And The Shape (let's be honest, it is the best!).

Booya son.

  1. I think "The Color and the Shape" is over-represented, in my humble opinion. The first 4 tracks on the self-titled are gold!

  2. Opinions..... :)

I like every track on 'The Colour and the Shape', and the album as a whole piece. It's also fun to play along to on the drums.
